Welcome to SEMPER AMICI
We are a Veteran Owned & Operated business specializing in helping the awesome dog owners of the North Houston area(s) who may be struggling with their dog’s behavior. Our unique dog training programs are focused on strengthening your relationship with your pup and are designed to fit your active lifestyle and specific needs as a dog owner.
Our Services
Dog Training that is tailored and suited to your individual lifestyle, vision, and goals.
Learn as your dog learns. Promoting improvement and lasting results at both ends of the leash!
dog’s behavior
The constant PULLING on the leash – giving you all the unwelcome wrist and shoulder workouts and making the walks less and less frequent.
The guilt you feel for leaving your dog out of all of the fun activities that you enjoy – but you just can’t risk it. Now you spend that time thinking about how much your dog WOULD HAVE enjoyed it.
The embarrassing reactivity and anxious behavior – when all you want to do is take them for an enjoyable walk around the park or neighborhood. Now when you see another person or dog, you turn to walk the other way, HOPING your dog doesn’t notice.
The frustration when they don’t listen to you – you could wave a wagyu steak in front of their face and they’d still flip you the paw and tune you out.
ABOUT
At Semper Amici, our mission is built into our name. Derived from the Latin for “Forever Friends,” our name pays tribute to the U.S. Marine Corps motto, Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful).
Our founder, Jose, began his journey as a Marine K9 handler. The bond he shared with his partner and the discipline required to work in high-stakes environments inspired him to help Houston families achieve that same level of trust and communication with their dogs.
Our Legacy: The face of our logo is Gris, Jose’s K9 partner who served multiple tours overseas. The drawing is based on a real photo taken during their first tour in Iraq, capturing the spirit of the everlasting bond we strive to build for every client.
Proudly Serving North Houston: Humble, Kingwood, Spring, Porter, New Caney, Tomball, The Woodlands, Conroe, Splendora and Cleveland
Reviews
Highly recommend working with this team! After working and meeting the team, they are our 2nd family! My girl Chula was apart of their board and train program & they took above and beyond care of her!
She had this odd bump on her head & the took her to their recommended vet. They communicated and kept me updated with everything! They taught me how to instill a solid foundation with Chula, building confidence within us, which then reflected onto Chula’s confidence. We are forever grateful for what they have taught us! 🙂
When we picked our dogs up, they were just as excited to see their trainers as they were to see us. That says everything!
We adopted two young shelter pups who developed challenging behaviors like dog reactivity, jumping, and leash pulling. Choosing a board-and-train felt like a big investment, but after a lot of research, we chose Semper Amici Canine. It was worth every penny.
The program gave our dogs a strong foundation of obedience and gave us a clear, effective way to communicate with them. We saw a significant reduction in reactivity and noticeable improvements in emotional regulation. This is real, science-based training rooted in psychology, not gimmicks.
Huge shoutout to Jessie and Justin—they’re incredible. Knowledgeable, patient, and amazing at teaching both dogs and humans. 🙂
Semper Amici is set apart by their heart and their continued support—from owner education modules to responsive follow-up and alumni group classes. If you’re on the fence about board-and-train, this is your sign.
We’ve been with Semper Amici Canine Training for over a year, and the transformation in our two-year-old Basset-Pit mix has been nothing short of incredible. Day by day, his behavior, obedience, and readiness for public certification have soared. Jose, Patti, and Justin are phenomenal—every program is worth every penny. Not only do you get weekly lessons and socialization with other amazing clients, but you also become part of a true community.
Being veteran-owned, they give back in every sense, and their multi-faceted training covers obedience, behavior, and even aggression. We also utilize their boarding services and wouldn’t trust our dog with anyone else.
Now we’re excited to pursue Canine Good Citizen certification, aiming to give back ourselves through therapy visits to retirement homes and hospitals.
I’d happily share more with any interested clients—we simply cannot recommend them enough!
